My name is Carolyn Boone, the Vice President of Operations for Jagathon 2024! We are in the peak of the main event season, and I oversee the majority of our main event that is happening on March 2nd! I help supervise my 4 directors in charge of all things pertaining to our event! We coordinate entertainment pieces like Silent Disco, blowups, face painting, our “Rave”, games, and more! We also provide 2 in-event meals and plan our traditional event ceremonies. One of the key pieces of our event is our Morale Dance which is a 10-minute-long dance that our participants learn throughout our event. We have been heavily planning this event since about midway through the fall semester. There are many moving pieces to our 14-hour long event, so we have a very detailed timeline, script, and an in-event slideshow that I have been working on with my directors! We have many meetings with vendors, our DJ, staging company, and Event Services at our Campus Center! We have the wonderful opportunity to take over all floors of our Campus Center and work with their wonderful team to fulfill our event needs! I have also been in communication with the IU Emergency Services Department to coordinate police and EMT coverage at our event. I am so excited!
I am graduating in May with a Bachelor’s in Science of Exercise Science and am starting Physical Therapy School at IU Indianapolis in May as well! I am originally from a small southern Indiana town called Borden. I have been participating in Jagathon since my Freshman year, the fall of 2020. I started off as a Committee Member on the Entertainment Committee. I then applied for the Executive Board and got the position of Strategic Communication my Sophomore year, and then the Director of Hospitality last year. I never saw myself as a Vice President of a student organization, but I am glad I decided to apply. I have many friends within Jagathon, all who have now graduated and became alumni, that I keep up with daily. I talk to two of my closest friends in a group chat daily, and I wouldn’t have ever met them if it wasn’t for Jagathon! I am sad to leave this organization, but very happy to be involved still on as an alumni in the future!
