Dance Marathon at IUPUI

Dance Marathon is neither a dance nor a marathon; it is a celebration of life. Jagathon has been helping children with life-threatening illnesses for 12 years, giving financial and emotional support to hundreds of families across Indiana. The money raised through our event is given directly to the Riley Hospital for Children through the Children’s Miracle Network.

At IUPUI we celebrate Dance Marathon weekend in March. We listen to music, play games, hang out with the kids we support, and even do a bit of dancing. Dance Marathon is for the kids- that’s always our focus. Jagathon is a 365 day commitment to raising money for the Riley Hospital for Children and with that comes the yearly celebration of our hard work during Dance Marathon Weekend. In 2015, we raised over $100,000.00 for the kids.

They provide comprehensive children's care-from the routine to the most complex-in every field of pediatric medicine and surgery. They are nationally ranked by the U.S.News & World Report. The highly skilled physicians are recognized across a number of different specialty areas ensuring that your child will always be in expert hands. Riley brings the highest level of care to children across Indiana with the most innovative treatments and the latest technology. Pioneering new programs and treatment options brings confidence in the level of expertise and experience each child receives every day at Riley.

Healthcare today is about more than diagnosing and treating problems. At Riley Children's Health, they know that the most effective pediatric care arises from a partnership between patients, families and clinicians. Starting with the work of the late Dr. Morris Green, who spent 20 years as our physician-in-chief, Riley Children's Health became one of the first hospitals to embrace what is now known as Patient- and Family-Centered Care. They are committed to a set of patient and family rights that means family members are regarded as partners in care and children are treated with compassion and respect.

At Riley, they are proud to have helped pioneer an approach that recognizes the important role that families can play in improving children’s health. Their philosophy is summed up in a quote from Dr. Green: “Let all who walk this way know that Indiana cherishes her families, that she loves her children. In this very special haven, no child shall cry unheard … none shall walk alone … and no mother or father shall be friendless.”

Children’s Miracle Network

Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) is a non-profit organization comprised of over 170 premier children’s hospitals across the US and Canada. Some things you should know about CMN:

  • Every year, CMN hospitals treat 17 million children for every disease and injury imaginable, making them the most impactful children’s organization in the world.

  • CMN’s dollars stay local and help benefit children and families treated at the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital.

  • These funds help to provide pediatric research, patient enhancements as well as entertainment systems at the bedside, books, games and creating a home within the hospital for each child and family.

With that, you can see how CMN helps create a more comfortable experience at the hospitals. For more information please check out www.childrensmiraclenetworkhospitals.org.
