"When I was born, the doctors knew something was wrong when I stopped breathing. About three months after we left the hospital, we went in for a routine examination and my original doctor wasn’t available, so they got a secondary doctor. He knew as soon as he saw me and immediately said I needed surgery and sent us to Riley. A few days later, I had my first surgery. It turned out, I have Neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1) and Glaucoma.
I continued going to Riley as I grew up, going through surgeries practically four times a year and growing older, it turned to every few months to a year with MRIs in between. When I was eight, I had my first major surgery to remove my glaucoma because it was getting so bad. Afterward, I still went to Riley and they kept on helping me through everything. If it weren’t for Riley, I don’t know where I’d be."
