Lily was born reluctantly via emergency C-section in January 2012 after many long hours of labor, when her parents learned that she had Down Syndrome. In February of 2012, she was diagnosed with Transient Myeloproliferative Disease (TMD) or pseudo leukemia, aspiration, and low blood oxygen levels. She had to have an NG tube for about 9 months, as well as portable oxygen and an apnea monitor for 3 months. Because of the TMD, Lily was at an increased risk for developing leukemia until the age of 4. She is now 4 years old and no longer at an increased risk for leukemia!
